Many Hands

This is actually a total reworking of an older one that… just didn’t work. But we are VERY happy with this iteration.

As the video shows, it is a set of 25 steel cans on rods and each can can (!) be rotated to reveal a different side.

Cans tend to have three 120 degree sides, so here one side of each has a hand painted on it; one side has just color and texture; one side has mystical little shapes.

And inside each can are shards of stone that both make little sounds but also steady the can where you want it to stay.

(In the previous version of this work, each can was filled with different objects, from walnuts to metal spoons. What we learned is that no matter what you put in side a can it pretty much sounds the same.)

The other thing we learned is that these cans are NOT stainless steel, and in fact will rust. So this will become our first indoor-only work, after its short outdoor showing.
